The importance of On-Page SEO and what it is
Every day MidWest Digital Designs continues to learn and grow about SEO. There is so much information out there about what is and is not important. This can be very difficult because it’s hard to tell who is right and who is wrong. Without working for Google, nobody can be certain exactly how it works. The best way to see if something is working is to test it yourself.
I would say that On-Page SEO is becoming the most important part of SEO. Google has shown over the years how important On-Page SEO is. There are a lot of factors when it comes to SEO, but in this post, I am going to be talking about On-Page SEO.
What is On-Page SEO?
On-Page SEO is developing your website with specific keywords. Inside of the header tags you use keywords. Those keywords the consumer is using to search for whatever they are looking for. This also means that your content matches the rest of the website. Your content also has to be unique around those specific keywords. Content is a big part of On-Page SEO, so below we’ll go further into it. The title tag and meta description of the website is also important for On-Page SEO. The title tag is at the “head” section of each webpage, and this also needs your keywords. But the title is important because it needs to attract your consumers.
There are more things that are also important to On-Page SEO. First, it’s the image ALT text. Depending on your CMS (content management system, IE WordPress), it is a very simple thing to do. This tells Google what the image is for. You are going to want to keep your image ALT text around the same content as the rest of the webpage. Second, is the URL of the webpage. Again, using keywords in your URL is important. This will also assist google by telling it what kind of content your website has. Third, is video content. Video content can be a great On-Page SEO tactic if done correctly. Using video content can bring a lot of authority to your page, which helps a lot for ranking. It can also bring user engagements as well. If you allow comments on your website, then that also creates more content as well as user engagement. Which also increases your ranking.
Content is king for On-Page SEO
If you have done any kind of google searches for SEO, then I will guarantee you have heard the term content is king. Using your keywords within the first 100 words of your article is important. This will again assist google by letting them know what your website is about. You also want to make sure your content is fresh and relevant to your keywords. Also, an important thing to note about content, you are going to want to put your LSI keywords in there as well. LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing. This again will help tell Google what your website is and why it should be ranking high.
I will be going further into each of these topics for On-Page SEO in the future, so keep coming back for tips!
A joke around the SEO community is that the only thing two SEO experts agree on is that the third SEO is not doing it right. So remember, you cannot take only one person’s word. You will need to test and research to see what works best for YOU!
